In September of 2013, Cleverson, together with some other folks interested in this project, were in the Dominican Republic, an island located in the Caribbean. We were able to learn a little more about the country, the culture, the food, etc. and it was a very challenging time. After much prayer, we sought counsel and were able to see firsthand what could be done in that country. We knew that it was the will of God that we switch our missionary field.
What are our plans in this field?
To establish churches in the city of Puerto Plata, located about two hours and a half from the country’s capital.
To evangelize a nation that is completely open and receptive to the Gospel.
To plant new Independent Baptist Churches.
To start a Bible Institute to train leaders and pastors to start other churches in the region and in time, in other countries.
To establish a camp ministry to serve the churches.
To learn the language: they speak Spanish there, but due to the fact that we speak Portuguese fluently, we can understand most of what they say. However, it is necessary for us to be able to communicate in the local language.
Many doors have already opened since we made this decision to change our field and mission board and this shows us that the Lord has truly led in this decision. Several of the churches in the Winston-Salem region have come together to see what can be done to get us to the field. Our church is very excited about this project! We just got the news that a church that supports us both in prayer and financially has voted to double our monthly support! What a blessing!
