We are finally in the Dominican Republic!

We are so grateful for your prayers for us! We had to postpone our move here twice. The first time we had to postpone because our visas had not yet come in. We had to postpone a second time due to Hurricane Irma. These issues brought to mind Isaiah 55:8-9 – “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts”. God knows what He is doing! We were anxious to get to the field, but we found comfort in God’s infinite grace and in His Word!

We arrived on September 17th, 2017 and everything went very well with the trip. The airline did not lose any of our baggage! The Bells, our teammates, met us at the airport and have been a tremendous help to us in this transition.

Thanks: We are grateful for your prayers on our behalf! It is a privilege to have your support for the ministry here in the Dominican Republic!

What are our plans in this field?

  • To establish churches in the city of Puerto Plata, located about two hours and a half from the country’s capital.
  • To evangelize a nation that is completely open and receptive to the Gospel.
  • To plant new Independent Baptist Churches.
  • To start a Bible Institute to train leaders and pastors to start other churches in the region and in time, in other countries.
  • To establish a camp ministry to serve the churches.
  • To learn the language: they speak Spanish there, but due to the fact that we speak Portuguese fluently, we can understand most of what they say. However, it is necessary for us to be able to communicate in the local language.

Many doors have already opened since we made this decision to change our field and mission board and this shows us that the Lord has truly led in this decision. Several of the churches in the Winston-Salem region have come together to see what can be done to get us to the field. Our church is very excited about this project! We just got the news that a church that supports us both in prayer and financially has voted to double our monthly support! What a blessing!

Continue to pray with us!

God is already working and we are very motivated!
